Mike Adams

I recently shot the dedication of the Odum School of Ecology on Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Odum is the first standalone school of ecology in the world, which is pretty exciting. President Adams was there to speak, and though he looked slightly red-faced, he did a decent, if very crafted job.

This is the photo that ran in the Red & Black the following day. Adams seemed like less of a figurehead and more like a working president as he sat down with his ice cream and discussed issues in ecology (which were far over my head) with these grad students.

Every now and then, shooting an event produces some photos that would never be run in the paper, but still capture a character. Adams is often caricatured as a starry-eyed, impish sort with a funny little bow tie, which, when he is presidential (as he was above) is off the mark. But caricatures are based on truth....

<----Adams is happy.
Adams is sad.------>

First Post

This should (hopefully) be the beginning of this blog. I'm going to attempt to post regularly, with a mixture of photos and inane, rambling musings. Critiques are always appreciated.
Above: Mike Golla of The Starting Line performs during the band's concer at Legion Field on Thursday, September 20, 2007. The show, which also featured bands Permanent Me and Four Years Strong, was put on by University Union.
I'm not a big fan of modern pop-rock, which is the best way I can describe The Starting Line. It was also misting/lightly raining the entire show, which always makes for a fun time. The sound people at Legion Field aren't the best, either, so my ears are still ringing. All the same, though, I love the colors in this image.
